Hello yes I've got a crested and a house gecko the type you see on walls on holiday
I found the house gecko at work on the factory floor at 3am while working nights
Put him in my buttie box and bought a vivaruim ect on the way home
Had him for two years now is doing really well was tiny when I found him
Fully grown now
It's a mystery where he came from but as far as I can work out he probably came in a box of components from India
Would have come by sea so the little gecko survived without food for a long time
We have had the crestie for about 15 months is fully grown now and doing well

Cool story...

Ive got a Crestie too, I like him. but prefer Day Geckos.

I broke down a large Ph.Grandis Viv early this year, had a pair of them and they bred like rabbits - I was getting over run with juvies, so sold them as a viable pair....

Howver, I really miss them now, and have decided to set up a new viv for Ph Quadriocellata...peacock day gecko....

Looking at Exo 45x45x90
Mistking
Full live planted bio et up.....

Just look looked up peacock day geckos stunning animals :)

I have a few ;) though scaling back a bit (no pun intended - well not much ;) ) - now only have L.Leachianus, L.Henkeli, r.chahoua and Eurydactylodes veillardi ...

I hope you return with a couple of pics when you have set it up.......have fancied having a go one day.

One of my favourite ever pics was of your Gargoyle at the TP mega meet a few years back Paul....

Growing up in Africa I was always fascinated by geckos . They are unique in using Van de Waal's force to stick to things: there is no "stickiness" involved, it's electromagnetic forces from the tiny hairs on their feet interacting with the surfaces they walk on. In fact I like geckos so much that the only tattoo I have is of one.

Can't say I have ever thought of keeping one as a pet though.

We had lots. I use to work in a unit behind the pet shop, always had escaped ones running around the walls, and we had one as a pet so when I left, he left with me. A big bibron gecko called Harry, lived in a 48" fish tank in the lounge. After about a year we got a female, Harry turned into a rough rapist and we had lots of eggs, which always hatched, lots of baby bibrons that we gave away.

In the end Harry and Sally got old and died and that was the end of geckos for us. Cool pets for the kids etc

Quite a few years ago when on holiday, from the 1st night asleep in our room, we woke up several times listening to what we thought must be a small yappy dog barking in the distance. This continued for a few nights, then we just happened to mention it to one of the bar staff while having a few drinks.

He said it wasn't a dog outside but actually a gecko. o_O They called them `chat-chats`.

We eventually found it hiding in our room & just let it be, comfortable in the knowledge it was eating mozzies while we slept.

Lovely creatures.

The giant geckos I keep (leachianus leachianus) can bark and generally make a racket - where it comes from it is known as the devil in the trees due to the noise it makes.

It was probably just a common house gecko in our room, only about 4-5" long & not particularly colourful. Still cool though

Many years ago I used to keep a viv with House Gecko's along with Green and Brown Anoles.
Loved them, unfortunately circumstances changed and I needed to shut down the vivarium. I've always longed to set one back up, and was looking at doing so earlier this year. Maybe next year now.

the Peacock Day Gecko is a new one on me but Wow they're stunning!
