Hi, I live in Kent too and I visit the National Trust, Leeds Castle, Penshurst Place, Hever Castle, Groombridge Place web sites as well as Whats On in London. These give a pretty good idea of local events. You can also Google "Whats on in Kent and Surrey" and you get some pretty good suggestions. Havent got much listed for June/July, but there are the following you could put in your diary: Hot Air Balloons - Groombridge Place, 9th August. British Superbikes at Brands 8th/9th August, Jousting at Hever Castle 15th and 22nd August. I also thoroughly enjoy a walk round Port Lympne and Howletts for a days animal shooting. Hope this helps, sorry nothing much earlier than August to report on. Incidentally, if you hear of anything in June/July, let me know!! Jan

Tweseldown is near Aldershot in surry, good place to shoot some cross country or show jumping

Biggin Hill is good - it ain't cheap, but it's a good day out. Or, if funds don't allow, find a good vantage point nearby and watch the fly pasts :D

Bromley Pageant of Motoring is usually pretty good for petrol heads. Sunday 14th June

After last time's ridiculous traffic management nightmare, I'm not going back!

Left really early from just up the road and missed half the show!!

Well, I say "just up the road", its a fair bit further than that but I would not have expected a 4 hour drive caused by massive mismanagement of the traffic flow (which is what it was, because its never been a problem any other year)

I remember a few years back it took ages to get into the car park, but only about 30-45 minutes. 4 hours is a complete joke.

Fingers crossed it is better this year.

 Blimey - you're not kidding! 4 hours?!

Reminds me of the hash they made of stewarding the car park at the Hop Farm festival last year. Event finishes at 11ish, the stewards scarper...the car park became bedlam. Decided to get some shut eye while folk were battling it out to get out! Should have been back home by midnight if all had been normal - got in at 4am. On a school night

Hope this year's Biggin Hill stewarding is a bit better!

Nope, I am not kidding - I aimed to be there nice and early before the flying started with plenty of time to find a spot and get setup and instead missed about half the flying by the time I got there.

If you think I am making it up, check this out:

Oh and they are totally lying about the traffic plan being the same as every previous year - it definitely wasn't because I have been loads of times!
