anybody on hear collect diecast cars.im about to start collecting 1/43rd scale rally cars be nice to see if theres anybody else who collects diecast vehicles..

I have a fair few. Most of my collection are Ford cars (that will be of no surprise to some on here :) ) I collect 1:43, and 1:18 as well as the smaller cars too.
Most of the cars will be motorsport based, quite a few WRC Mk1 Focus models, Mondeo Touring cars and I have a collection of Scalextric cars also. Not bought anything in a while but I am after a 1:18 Autoart Mk1 Lotus Cortina road car to supplement the 3 race cars I already have. Problem is everyone wants lots of money for that one.

I don't collect die cast cars as such but have bought 1/18 die cast cars, usually Burago, Revell etc for my son (ie me) as he was growing up.

Reading this reminded me that I bought a BMW 2002tii from a car boot sale about 10 years ago. I've always been aware that it was a great, highly detailed model and much higher quality than the others I have. Having read this I checked it and it is indeed an 'Autoart' model. I've not paid much attention to mine tbh but a quick Google demonstrates how wide the Autoart range is. To say the least! I could easily be persuaded to collect them, especially if I came across more models at car boots for £20!

I also have a few Corgi die cast aircraft but don't actively collect them, much as I like those too.

Have tried to stop buying these, especially after paying almost £50 for a WRC Fiesta (not in this photo), fantastically detailed model but time to stop I think.

I was going to collect only Ford rally cars, then added Gp B cars as well, this is most of my collection

Ooh! I do like the look of that 1:18 Alan Mann Racing Escort.
None of my cars are really on display, best I could do right now is loads of pictures of boxes. :)
The 1:43 scale cars seem to be getting more and more expensive, the price akin to some of the fairly decent 1:18 scale cars.
I've been fortunate in the past and got some bargains at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Several years ago there was a monthly collectors magazine with a free 1:43 model rally car. If you subscribed you got a liveried 1:43 Transit van and a similar liveried Mk2 Escort rally car on a trailer. They were selling for around £50 on ebay a few years back, I picked up several at Goodwood for £20 a set. Around 3yrs ago at Goodwood, I picked up one of my Autoart 1:18 Lotus Cortinas for £35, now they go for around £80 and upwards on ebay. No bargains to be had the last couple of years though, everything seems to be overpriced instead.

thats a nice little collection david and i love the fiesta rs.i used to collect diecast years ago mainly burago 1/18th scale and ertl american muscle cars.im gonna get a couple of sunstar 1/18th mk2 escorts and a metro 6r4 but the rest will be 1/43rd scale rally cars

I too like the look of the Sunstar Mk2 Escorts, wish I'd bought one when they were readily available, they used to be around £25-£35 in Modelzone, On ebay, last time I looked, they seemed to be £60 upwards. The 1:18th scale Maisto models seem quite good, a lot cheaper than a lot of makes too.

Found a photo of one of my models. !:18 Mk1 Mondeo Si.

It's not diecast as such as it's made of resin. Ford commissioned 500 of these to be made, I've managed to source 3 from ebay so far. Ones I've missed out on have gone for over £150. I probably paid that for all 3 of mine.
