Yes
Ive just bought a dell laptop.
I wanted to see how it would work connected to my Hp LP2475w wide gamut monitor. All I had around to connect it is a HDMI cable which I thought would be ok as it putting out the right resolution 1920x1200 and the image quality seems ok.
The problem I have is that when I create a colour profile for it using my Huey pro the profile dosnt get saved in windows, the profile for the dell laptop scree does but not the Hp screen profile.
The laptop only has VGA or HDMI
So would it be something to do with me using HDMI?
I dont want to go and spend £20 on a VGA to DVI cable if that wont make a difference.
The HP doesnt have VGA
I dont want to buy a cheap cable if I have to get another as I know that cheap cables can affect analogue signals which is what it will get through VGA.

Any thoughts or things to look at would help.
Thanks
Carl

Does the laptop have dual graphic cards??

On my laptop my inbuilt graphics card runs the vga and the screen, the more powerful graphics is only used for the hdmi and the screen. Can you switch the graphics card to the advanced one.

Can you test your VGA output?

I believe the gt 650M runs through the intel chipset, so there is no switching between the two as such as far as I can tell. I have set the nvidia control panel to always use the 650M but dont know how much difference that makes.
The VGA out does work on another monitor fine, but its a smaller old monitor.

can you save the profiles via vga? (even just for test purposes)

doh, not tried that, will hook the other display up again. I totally discounted that as a monitor as its old, but should have thought to test it. thanks

Thanks Dale, simple solution. it saved the profile for the VGA monitor so it is something to do with using HDMI, thats a shame.
At least I know I should be able to get it to work
