I've just found out about The Chattri near Brighton and wondered if anyone has been there.
I love this type of place and the views look spectacular.
Is it worth a visit, seems it is a bit of walk from available parking, and carrying hefty camera gear.
Any thoughts appreciated

I grew up just south of it in Patcham. It's worth a visit, a short hike of a mile or so I think. It's uphill on the way there but not too strenuous - quite pleasant this time of year and just a gentle incline. Park on Braypool Lane - there are spaces either side of the road if you turn right as you come off the A27 roundabout. There's usually an AA van, ambulance or recovery truck parked waiting for the next call. The track itself is pretty good quality, so not a difficult walk. The location is lovely, and well worth the effort. What time of day were you thinking of going?

Thanks, much appreciated you taking the time.
Not really thought much about time of day, waiting for the right weather when I have time to get there
When would you suggest ? I'm only about 30 miles away so easy to access.
Visited the Peace Pagoda in Willen Park last year, that was just lovely, hoping that I might get some
decent views as well as the memorial itself

I am neat Brighton over a year, and I am still discovering the places:
- Brighton Pier is worth visiting - especially when it gets dark (after 7-8 pm) (the illumination is wonderfull)
- Hove and it's white-sand yellow ish- old mansion houses near the beach
- Seven Sister ca 15 miles east from brighton
- the views from the Devils Dyke (I think around 1 pm) and views allong the SouthDowns way
- Worthing: is ca. 8 miles away from brighton

Anything else?

Yep, what do you know about The Chattri ?

Lived in this area all my life so know all the other places you have mentioned, starlings round the Pier
just before they roost on the old pier are spectacular.
Only just found out about this place and plan to walk up there sometime soon

I'm a sucker for golden hour, however I've some seen some nice startrails stuff done there too.

Sounds good, not sure it's somewhere I want to be on my own after dark though :exit:

Sod Brighton Ingrid, come to Haywards Heath, you know it make sense

Oooh you trying to get me alone in the dark Rob ;)
Not been there for a while, is there anything worth taking pics of :)

In Haywards Heath itself, the honest answer would be deffinately NO..
Bluebell Railway up the road and various NT places nearby

Not really my thing TBH, I do wildlife mainly , but I do like these memorial type places, I love the RAF one at Runymede and the Peace Pagoda in Willen Park
but not really a landscape person

On a serious note
Warnham Nature reserve is great in the winter and Weir wood reservoir not bad
and both an easy drive from Brighton
OR Pagham area and Arundel nature reserves if you are into birding
If you plan a trip up to BWC let me know and we can meet...
might even buy you an eccles cake

I don't actually live in Brighton, I'm close to Horsham
going to Arundel next week with my niece and her son, he loves ducks so that should keep him happy

To be fair it is pretty remote, and I suspect the majority of Brightonians are unaware of it. It's definitely worth a visit.
