Hello, I'm new to the DSLR world and have still not got one yet . I'm having trouble deciding on what camera to get ? My budget is £500 and first thought of the Canon 500d but keep being told to wait for a good second hand Canon ??. I'm keen on the Canon as I know friends with them, Arrrrghh Do I wait or just get a new one. Oh and would I benefit from a DC or IS lens ?

Whatever camera you decide on don't forget to add in the cost of a memory card . A 4gig Sandisk Extreme 111 is a good start, so check out prices and beware of fakes on auction sites.

Have you been to a camera shop and held a Canon ?

You need to make sure whatever you buy feels nice to hold , I'd definitely go and pick up a Canon and Nikon for starters to see which feels the best , there may also be other makes out there that could feel "right" , the Sony for example.
