Anti glare screen protectors any good ?

I was wondering if the anti glare screen protectors for mobile phones work at all ? I was thinking of adapting one to suit my point and press cameras which are terrible in bright light.

By nature of how they actually work, they reduce sharpness, so not really that suitable for use on a screen you might use to check sharpness.
