Yes
I have a fair bit of gear, most, well nearly all of it bought used and have enjoyed using it over the years.
However now it is getting to a point where I think it maybe time to say goodbye to my DSLR machines and lens, because it is now getting heavy. Yes I know an old reasons but still.

So, I am after a replacement, it will used as a general camera but I also want it for Sports as I shoot a lot at the local race track and this/next year I want to go to other race circuits to, and like many things there is a list of things I would like:

Full Frame Mirrorless, are the only bodies I am considering because I already have crop sensors covered.
Needs to have a good range of lens, looking for something like 24-105mm, 100/200 to 500/600 zoom (while primes are a possibility, I think they are out my price range)
Good/quick AF with some Tracking ability, I don't need the latest and greatest but it would be nice to have that planes/trains/automobiles option.
Weather resists/proof would be nice, good if the lens are as well.
Viewfinder that is good to use when you wear glasses.
Body price, somewhere between £900-£2000.

I am looking on the used market and I have no brand loyalty so open to suggestions :)

Look at the Sony A7Cii, it ticks the boxes you mention; mirrorless, FF, very fast AF and tracking and lenses of the type you want are available from Sony themselves, or from 3rd party brands such as Sigma and Tamron, for example.

I would also suggest Sony as you have more native lens options including some very good third party which can often be considerably cheaper and a bit lighter. The A7Cii as mentioned is a grea option, however I didn't like the EVF and found it awkward to look through so prefer the other body type. I'm a left eye shooter through so this may have some bearing.

The only issue here is that if you want the option of planes/trains etc subject tracking you need one of the newer bodies which limits you to the A9 III and A1 II if you want the larger style bodies and these are out of budget.

I believe the Canon R6II has vehicle subject detection (as well as humans and animals), but I'm not sure if you can choose between car, plane, train etc.

The Nikon Z6 III has the advanced subject detection too.

However, here's the caveat, whilst some bodies may have the more advanced subject detection it doesn't necessarily mean that they are better at tracking. For example my A1 doesn't have any vehicle recognition tracking but I would hazard a guess that it tracks them better than some fo the cameras mentioned above.

I can't give any comparison between makes, but I would look at a Nikon Z6III plus the Nikon 180-600mm and then the Nikon 24-120 or 24-70.

Third party lenses are limited to just Tamron, but the Nikon 180- 600 looks like an excellent buy and the Z6III seems to have a good reputation. for its AF and tracking capability.

But I think now a days it's difficult to choose between the big three (Nikon, Canon and Sony). People I know of who actually "use" more than one make (for wildlife) all seem to offer the same opinion of there being no clear winner.

Big disadvantages of Nikon is that (for sports and wildlife) only the modern bodies are worth considering (Nikon Z6III, Z8, and Z9, the Z5II might also be OK) which limits the choice. and as I said above there is a very limited choice of third party lenses available.

I agree, except Nikon have most if not all of the telephoto lenses covered with their own Z range.

Yes, Nikon do have the sports/wildlife range well covered (especially if you include the higher end F mount lenses with an FTZ) and the few Tamron lenses that are available,

However,I don't really know what Canon and Sony have on offer, especially as I assume they both have Sigma as well as Tamron offerings. Canon seem to bring out a new tele-zoom every other week, but I'm not paying that much attention.

Hi

That you all for your thoughts, plenty to think about.

Must confess @saltireblue had not considered the Sony A7CII so will certainly look at it as well as the other cameras mentioned :)
