Hi - I need to replace one of the family mobiles & was looking at the brand new ones at www.play.com - They have ones which are shown on Vodafone Prepay so I presume they come with a Pay As You Go sim? - If that is the case I presume you could use an existing Vodafone sim in the new mobile? - OR will the mobile only work with the sim it is sold with? - Sorry if that's a stupid question (but I am a bit that way inclined when mobiles are involved )
Paul ;)
PS - Anyone had a good experience of "unlocking" a mobile online (not the above mobile - one of my others a Sony K750i currently on Vodafone)

If its locked to Vodafone then you can use any vodafone sim in it - not just the one it comes with - I did this with Sue's old O2 phone.

Now that a lot of the phones have cables that plug into the USB port on a PC its invariably easier to unlock them, google the phone model you're looking at with unlock and see what comes up before you buy it :)

hth

Orange and Vodaphone lock...02 dont.

any network specific card can be used.
Unlocking is fine. we get all our orange mobiles unlocked when we pass them on to the kids to use with their 02 prepays. No probs. about £10 done in lots of shops.

You can get cables and do it yourself, but i think its best to get someone else to do it and theres no probs then. :D

Much obliged Janice (& Matt 2) - Will pop into my local shop if it's only a tenner or so ... Paul
