Another Scam or genuine?

The registered address is on a residential street

Scam, theres a thread in talk section.

I've seen a couple of posts on them now. Avoid!

Thanks guys I thought this was the case. I am currently selling a lens on Ebay and a guy was asking what I would accept considering the lens could be bought new for £591 post free from Dontons. I told him it was most likely a scam as the price was ridiculous.

I think the bigger warning is on their Help/FAQ page.......

Anyone heard of Yorkshire Camera's?? If not do a quick Google and the top results will all be about it being a scam site.

No go to the Help/FAQ page of Dontons. I swear I havent changed this, but one of the questions listed is....

"Why should I buy from Yorkshire Cameras?
DONTONS strives to maintain competitive pricings and customer focus as our priority. Our mission statement is to bring the best value deals to our customers, but not neglecting to offer a comprehensive pre and after sales care service to ensure the most enjoyable shopping experience around."

I have not changed that - it genuinely says "Why should I buy from Yorkshire Cameras?"

One to avoid!

Neil

Sounds like the same guys are going around and setting up multiple business, once too much fuss is made about one they shut down and change names.

They're trying it under another name too, there's a thread about that one too

Yeah, its a scam, along with Dontilos, Producesell, BuyitPlayit, Best-dslr-deals, Yorkshire Cameras and Online-Technology. There the ones I've found so far anyway, the police have been informed as I have a similar case being investigated at the moment but they never seem to do an awful lot about it.

These scammers seem to be getting cleverer. Their prices are the best but not ridiculous. I do hope they get their cumuppence some day.

Surely it's easy enough to trace the person who set up the domain and website? If you paid with a credit card can't the banks also just refuse the amount? I don't really understand how they could keep getting away with taking money and never delivering a product, especially if they are always dealing with camera equipment??

I've mentioned this before, but shouldn't we have a dedicated bit of forum for scammer warnings to go up on? And stay up on? And be added to as information emerges?

Not sure about a dedicated section, but maybe a sticky on the shopping section?

Don't forget though these scammers change sites on an almost daily basis, so the info will always be one step behind, but any warning is better than none...
