Hi all,

A general question about workflow.
At the moment I download straight to windows picture editor and then copy to my external hard drive (which is only used to store shots) and then open from there into Photoshop Elements.
The problem is that Windows does not allow me to view any shots taken in RAW. Which is the best programme to use to download from the camera?
Also whenever I open up Photoshop (I'm on elements 6) about 2500 photos open in thumbnails and i don't know how to stop it happening.

Thanks in advance for any help

For PSE6 arrange for the welcome screen to be displayed on start up and select Edit. This takes you into full edit. Organise stores and displays all the images you've imported. If you don't need them here it is recommended you delete them as this can slow things down. As regards downloading RAW I use the editor that came with my camera (Canon)

Cheers Paul,

I'll try that tonight.
Unfortunately the editor that came with my Nikon b***ers up my computer.

The free Nikon ViewNX isn't bad can be downloaded from Nikon site.

Try Picasa2 which is free album software from Google and good for sorting your photos and does a few other basic but useful things. It'll show the RAW files nicely.

Also, Arcsoft have a neat little free plug-in for Windows that allows you to preview your RAW photos when browsing through your files. Look here: http://www.arcsoft.com/products/Rawviewer/

Cheers guys, I shall scrutinize all of them tonight (if left alone for long enough).
