More lightroom questions :D

So I'm importing everything into Lightroom and starting "afresh" as it were... All going well so far, but Lightroom has just started whining at me over needing more space on C:
That's odd I think, because the images are all going to G:

Dunce here didn't realise that the catalogue is what's chewing up space it doesn't have, because my boot drive is just that, a boot drive, with nothing but Windows on it. It's not very big.

So I rummage a bit in the lightroom settings, but all I can get it to do is show me where the catalogue is, not relocate it to a different drive. I've tried googling, but all I'm turning up is advice on working between two machines with one catalogue, which aint what I'm after.

So any pointers on that one?

Secdonly, once I've done all this I'll want to backup the whole shebang to a different hard drive. I've seen the option in the import window, which is groovy for future use, but how can I go about backing up all the images in the catalogue somewhere else, I guess I could just copy the whole folder, but I'd prefer it if Lightroom recognised the backup :geek:

As you now know where the catalogue is as it has shown you. Move the catalogue to your desired location, Cut and Paste. On lightroom start up, lightroom should complain it cant find the catalogue, and ask if you want to start a new one or use an existing one, just point it to your moved one its its new location.

Dont forget to move the preview file aswel, forgot to mention that

so move these 2 files

Lightroom Catalog Previews.lrdata
Lightroom Catalog.lrdata

For the second part - if you export a catalogue LR will take the images files as well - so export to your backup drive and you'll get a copy of everything al neatly packaged up, just open the catalogue from the LR file menu should you need to.
