I'm after a new bag to replace my aging Lowepro shoulder thing which is a bit small anyway. I was pretty settled on a Crumpler Pretty Boy XL off eBay (at the moment it needs to fit a D60 with kit lens and a SB-600 flashgun, I'll also soon need space for a Nikon 35mm prime and maybe a longer zoom, although not all at the same time - plus assorted filters, cards and batteries, and a light tripod stuck in the top) but DSLR User are giving away a Tamrac bag free with a 33 quid subscription (http://www.dslruser.co.uk/index.php/digital-slr-user-magazine/subscribe). The only trouble is it doesn't actually say which Tamrac bag it is, as far as I can see!

Does anyone know which bag it is? Are they any cop? Or should I just go for the Pretty Boy, which looks cooler.

I love my crumpler but it does not hold the amount that Crumpler say it will do. Also not sure how you would stick a light tripod on the top.
I have the 400d, 70-200 and 50mm and am looking for a bigger bag.

Crumpler looks nice, but in reality I find them less able to fulfill the role of being a 'proper' camera bag. If you just want to squize in a small body a a lens+flash to go out for a walk in the park while walking a dog, great. But if you want to bring more stuff for a proper outing, forget it. Bang per buck you're better off with Tamrac or Lowepro.

Oh and one last thing, always buy a bag that you will grow into, and not what you have now, as you will regret the decision pretty quick!

Have a look in the classifieds:D

Er, what for? Can't see anything similar

I know what you mean about buying something I can grow into, but on the other hand I do prefer to travel light - I do plan on investing on more lenses, but I do try and be selective about what I take, especially when I'm visiting more, er, inaccessible places. Might be quite handy for slinging over a shoulder when I'm out with a bit rucksack too.

As for the tripod - apparantly with something lightweight (like a Modo) you can tuck it in under the top flap, not the most secure but good enough.

*edit* not looking like a camera bag is a big plus too, handy for being surreptitious
