"Angry Wolf" - Does anyone know the togger behind this image?

Write to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and ask him ;) Probably worth bearing in mind this is a 1999 edition. I wouldn't hold out a great deal of hope in finding the true source due to the huge amount of memes based on the wolf.

This is a very famous wolf photo nicknamed 'Insanity Wolf.' It's all over the internet. Here's some info on it:

Although the Insanity Wolf meme began in 2009, the wolf image from which this meme is derived has been appearing online since at least 2006.



On October 21st, 2006, YTMND user deathtoll5000x created OMGWTFHOLYSHI-! (WARNING: loud volume).
This YTMND has under 800 views and is not responsible for popularizing the image.

The image also appears on vivcam6300’s Flickr image stream, posted October 21st, 2007 and labeled “inter net pic”


The image has also been used in a 1999 printing of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles.

A TinEye Image Search shows that this fierce wolf has been used as a popular forum avatar for a number of years. Given the immense presence of this photo and the different ways it has been used, it is likely that it is a commonly available piece of stock photography.

I'm not after the creator of the Meme, or anything to do with the Meme, I am searching for the original photographer of the image.

I want to get it tattooed and out of respect for the togger, I wanted to ask their permission first if I could find them.
 
Just get it done. I've a David Bowie album sleeve Tattoo. I didn't ask David or the photographer for permission. Doubt they's ask me to remove it of pay royalties.

Where did I say you was after the creator of the meme? I was giving you information on the photograph and it's history to help you track it down the photographer and/or find a high res copy.

My first post clearly states the publisher of the book may be a (slim) lead to the photographer, they probably purchased the photograph from the owner or a stock site that has a higher res photo / the owner details. Have you tried searching stock photo sites with key words and then filtering to show oldest results first seeing as this is an old (15 years at least) image?

You've only posted a crop of the image btw, the original photo has more at the top and bottom.
