And About Time Too

I'm not sure I'm in awe of HCB but find his approach both interesting and inspirational, it is one of those books that having been out of print for so long has gained legendary status and I'm pretty sure a copy will end up on my bookshelf alongside the much maligned and oft ignored Colin Garratt's Taking Photographs

I'm not in awe of HCB but I do appreciate his importance and I also like a lot of his images. This may be because I have an interest in history and I really like old photographs but I can also see just how good he was.

I was going to write "that's Xmas sorted then" but since I've just won an auction for a camera on eBay (Fuji GA645Zi) then I'd better count that as my Xmas present.

I hardly ever take "street" photographs but I do enjoy looking at interesting street photography - trouble is that 98% of the street photos on flickr are just photos of, well, streets, maybe with some random strangers walking past in a perfectly normal way, but not actually interesting.

Might be worth a read, though whether it's worth buying rather than borrowing from the library is another matter.

I tend to think of my street photography as recording the indecisive moment, a sentiment reenforced by my attempts at Arundel!

Did anyone buy this?

I thought I'd read somewhere there was a later book published by HCB that included most of these pics and some others as well. At the moment my sister is trying to buy this for my (past) birthday, but the reprint appears to be out of print again. Should I stick with this or try for the later book?
