An interesting concept, I wonder if it will catch on

Looks very clever, is it some sort of 3D type scanner as well with that top part? If it's as slick and fast as in the advert then I can imagine it being very good for magazine and newspaper graphic designers etc but not sure how much it would benefit photographers as it seems more geared towards being able to add non-digital content?
 
Fascinating idea. I wonder how precise it is, and also how effective it will be under normal ambient light levels?
