The Collaborative Project organises free events for the public to encourage participation in projects that are fun and creative.

Themed to coincide with the Brighton Festival the current project is called 'The Pier'.

We are inviting the public to upload their photographs of Brighton seafront and the West and Brighton Piers to create a giant photo-montage of 'The Pier'.

This project is running for the duration of the Brighton Festival and the closing date is the 23rd May.

The completed montage will be available to view online from the last day of the festival, the 24th May onwards.

One lucky person will be randomly selected as the 'winner' whose photo will form the basis of the montage representation of 'The Pier'.

As with all of our projects, it is completely free and we encourage everybody to get involved.

There is still time for people to contribute, so please get uploading!

Regards,

Rob Wassell
The Collaborative Project.

Terms of Participation

The copyright is, and will always remain with the person who took the original photograph.

You must be the copyright holder or have permission from the copyright holder

Contributors can be of any age and from any location.

Contributors can upload as many photographs as they wish, there is no limit.

One winner will be randomly selected after the deadline of the 23rd May and their photograph will be used as the basis for the final montage. The judges decision is final.

Any photographs that we deem to be inappropriate or 'off topic' for the subject matter will be excluded from the final montage.

You grant a right for The Collaborative Project to publish your submission on-line and in-print if applicable. This ensures that we have your permission to show the photo on-line and if a newspaper such as the Argus wishes to print a copy, they can.

The winning contributor will receive due credit for their photograph.

Any supplied details will be kept safe and secure and you will only be notified of completion if you provide your email address.

Pretty specific yet vague at the same time on the possible uses of YOUR photo, so enter at your own risk people :)

Hi,

Interesting reply and something I definitely want to follow up on.

The terms are meant to be simple rather than unwieldy and yet thorough enough to ensure trust between contributing parties and ourselves.

We don't want to put anyone off and we want everyone to be happy and comfortable when taking part in our projects.

We have appeared in a number of south east publications that are interested in our community based projects and they may well want to reproduce a representation of the final montage. Plus we also need to cover us so that we can show the image on the website for people to see when the competition closes.

If there is anything else that we can add to the terms to ensure 100% confidence in this project and to ensure that more photographers are comfortable contributing then let me know and I will make it happen.

As a published photographer myself I am aware of the need to protect our rights and am welcome to suggestions.

Regards,

Rob
