A few years back I bought a used M4/3 set up, Panasonic GF1 20/1.7 & 14-45zoom. Included where a couple of Hexanons 40/1.8 and 28/3.5 plus the appropriate adapter. These Hexes where in fine order and felt lovely to use. I set about collecting a few more, 50/1.7 (1/3 stop version) 135/3.2 & 200/4. TBH using adapted lenses on a M4/3 can be a real pain, dodgy focusing and all, plus there's the x2 crop factor to deal with.

I've been keeping a casual eye out for the daddy of Konica 35mm slr bodies to use these lovely lenses on. A few weeks ago I spotted a very nice T3n for £20 with the usual meter issue (could be batteries or it could be the meter). For convenience I had it delivered to work and I wasn't disappointed. I was in the office examining my purchase when a colleague popped in and spotted it.

"Like old cameras, do you" he inquired
"why yes" I replied
"I have one to sell"
"what is it"
"a Nikon, 'Ill pop home at lunch and bring it in for you"

Wasn't expecting much, some low grade consumer slr from the 90's, however I was very pleasantly surprised.

£90 later I had a very nice example of the Nikon FM2..............

............also included a Nikkor 50/1.8 AI-S in lovely condition............

............and................

........... a Nikon 100/2.8 E series AI-S, again in lovely condition.................

...............and......................

...............a very sweet Nikkor 24/2.8 AI-S.

Plus a decent Crumpler bag, filters all caps and a couple of non matching lens cases.

Popped to Boots, picked up 3 rolls of XP2 and have been using it since. I'm now looking at developing equipment, negative scanners and a Nikon D700 full frame dslr with a view to fitting a split focus screen.

Good job I have a very understanding wife.

Love this story. Great result.

I'm a Konica\Hexanon fan too....not many here though and you were wise to stay with the mechanical one as the later electronics models were dodgy e.g.three FT1s and still haven't got one working properly. A guy says he had solved the problem:- the thin copper electrical tracks on the plastic are joined to others by pressing them together with some sort of clip...and he said just unclip them and clean the tracks...erm well it didn't work for me :(

The Konica FC1 was the camera I bought as I couldn't afford a Canon AE1P which was the only other shutter-priority camera on the go in those days, plus you could buy the Konica as a kit. Over the years I added more bodies and bits & pieces, including Tamron adaptall mounts, but sadly it has all been sat in a cupboard for years now. :( If you are looking for something, give me a shout and I'll see if I have it by any chance.

To keep on topic, I did succumb to a Nikon when I could eventually afford one, but they are now sat in the cupboard as well!

I love buying old MF lenses Nikon or Hexanon...........however I don't think we're allowed to deal outside the classified due to forum rules. I can't access the classified for about another 7 weeks..........or I'd be after that D700 that's I hear is on there.

Hi Keith, no attempt to bypass the Classifieds here. When you get access you'll find that there is a Wanted section where items can be sought and bought, so that is what I was meaning.
