An "HDR" from the weekend Rally

Hi Folks,

I visited the Jim Clark Rally in Kelso on Sunday. This was my first rally, boy, have I been missing out :D

Anyhow, I had this shot, which I liked:



but felt it lacked something. After 10 minutes of playing with lightroom (to create the 5 different exposures, it's difficult bracketing when something is moving pretty fast) and photomatix, I came up with this (clicky for large version).



I personally think it's one of my best manips, but c&c is very welcome indeed!

Nice photo, shame about the motion blur though. I think the HDR one is a bit dark too.

Edit: whoops, that's focus not motion blur – my bad :p
 
i think the sky benefits from the HDR, but i'm not sure the rest of the image does. Nice shot though :thumbs:
 
I like the HDR version though it is quite dark.
 
Thanks folks. It looks ok on my monitor? I just got a new monitor yesterday and have not read the manual yet mind you..
 
Took a quick look at the histrogram in PS and it seems to agree that the image is a little on the dark side:

Got some black clipping there too. Up the brightness some and it'll be a nice pic, though :)
