Can anyone recommend an alternative to Flickr for file hosting?
I do not have a yahoo account and I would prefer to keep everything linked up to my google mail account.

Thanks for any direction on this.

Dropbox, Onehub, sharevault, Torrentfreak, Sharefile, Vimeo, just a few I have used, some I still do, but I keep Flickr as my main one because the images seem to transfer better.
A Google search will bring up many others, just have to check they are compatible.

There's always Youpic but that is almost run like a camera club competition. The more points you get the more your grade increases meaning that you are a better photographer.
How do you get points? Largely by saying that you like others people's work.
Very odd but it is popular. Just like Flickr with grades.

Okay, it seems it is do-able from Picasaweb...
Example:
IMG_3859-001.JPG

Howto:
  1. Upload the photo to your linked picasaweb account
  2. Choose/Open the image
3. On the right hand side you'll find a couple of sharing options. You need the Embed image option. Also select size at this point.
  4. Copy the resulting URL
  5. In the Talk Photography post toolbar, you'll find an Image button. Select this and paste the URL into the resulting dialog box.
  6. Check it looks the way you want by selecting preview, then post it.
  7. Job Jobbed...

Thanks for all the direction people. I bit the bullet and created a flickr account and used my Gmail address as the primary for my account.
Not convinced with the set up of it so far but will give it more time. Failing that I will try one of the above options.

The new style flickr ain't what it used to be but it's growing on me. Viewbug is looking pretty good too, good growing community though I haven't quite worked out how to get more views yet.

It's great for competitions, and there are awards and some damn fine photography.
