Here is my first entry to the Photo52 project. This is my submission to week 24 - Bright. He looks pretty bright and the background is bright so I think it fits.

Week 1 - Accomodation

Week 2 - New

Week 3 - Style

Week 4 - Open

Week 5 - Hard

Week 6 - Clutter

Week 7 - Clutter

I have edited my shot after markelliot's comment

Great first shot... I would say the whole image would benefit from a slight 1/3 stop reduction in the brightness... even just in the highlights to bring out the detail a little more... but still be classed as a great pic for bright!

Are you going to try and catch up?

Great work

M

Yeah I had actually set the exposure lower but I boosted it for the bright title. Perhaps too much. I am going to re edit and post.
I think I will try and catch up. Gonna start from week 1 I think

Welcome to the 52 and a great start. A very nice sharp, colourful capture that fits the theme very well. Good composition and the focus on the eye and beak are spot on. Very nice image.

Hi Andy, welcome to the 52.

Like your week 24 shot for "bright" - great shot with wonderful sharpness in the eyes. I think I'd be tempted to go back to the original and try to bring out more detail in the plumage on the neck.

Like your "accommodation" pic too. Nice use of DOF and interesting angle.

Look forward to seeing the rest of your catch-up

Cheers for your comments. Your right about "bright". I guess I'm just lazy as I can't get a good balance with it in lightroom and I haven't been bothered to open it in photoshop and do it properly. Will get it sorted!

Welcome to the mad house Andy.
I see you're already part o fthe flickr group, enthusiasm, thats what we like

I like your week 24, nice and bright and nice detail.
Week 1, as hase been said, nice angle and DOF.

At the end of year award ceromony, you could be up for the 'Best game of catch-up' award!

Hi Andy & welcome to the 52 mad house

Your shot for bright is just great , beautiful focus on the eye , white maybe a bit bright but that was theme so it works well..

Accomodation..great angle & DOF .I'd have walked past that sign & not taken any notice but you've made it interesting so good work

Look forward to seeing the rest of your catch up shots...no pressure of course

Cheers folks. I've been out trying to get week 2 but only got week 3.should I wait until I've got them in order?

I will add it when I get back then. Currently on within beach shooting. Hopefully will get the eclipse

Hiya Andy,

Welcome on board at this mid-stage ... but heyho if you are up for the challenge I am sure I speak for all here, we will support your on your major catch-up.

BTW you have to be MAD to join this team ... which I think you have already proved  Not to mention you have had a comment from AndyMc133 .... which I consider a bonus (sorry AndyMc133 had couldn't help notice that) .... so there you go fully fledged .... Now let's see your catch up pictures ....

So far I like what you have posted

Bright is bang on theme ... need my  to view the pic so has to be good.

Like your take on the Accommodation theme ... the angle is great and like the DOF.

Style ... is great too and reminds me of one of the folk in my neighbourhood

Look forward to seeing more from you and good luck!

Cheers

Dawn :)

Week 2 - New
Been shopping for nice new clothes......

So what do you think of jumper? by Andy M Taylor, on Flickr

This is a previously taken photo but it was taken after the 2nd week and I'm catching up so I hope that's ok. Not going to do it too often though

Week 4 - Open

My Ice Cream by Andy M Taylor, on Flickr

Is there an easy way to view peoples entries as its very awkward trying to find them all. Is it best looking on the flickr group? But everyone isn't on it yet are they?

Hi Andy,

It's good to see you try and catch up, stick at it.

Week 4 looks a little flat in the colour department for me, although I am on my works PC which I know isn' the best to crit color etc.

As for viewing peoples entries, most have a link to their thread in their signature. Most peoples threads then have links to the various weeks inthe thread.

Then there is the spreadsheet that Dawn (Drodd) put to gether. There is a link to it in Sarahs theme thread or at the top of my 52 thread. It's a Google spreadsheet which has a link to everyones thread and a note of which weeks they've completed. Once you find peoples 52 thread hit the subscribe button.

Cheers for the info. I was hoping there would be a quick way of looking at everyone's entry for a particular week at once but I guess not. Never mind.
Regarding week 4 shot. I processed the picture as a bleach bypass which I quite like for some street shots but it perhaps isn't to everyone's taste. Thanks for your comments

Hi Andy, great work so far! I really like "new", normally I don't think I would like this, but there is something about it that draws me to it. Did you get the eclipse? We had cloud here, plus I was not feeling to well so wasn't able to get out of bed a bit later to see if it had cleared.

No eclipse I'm afraid. There was lots of clear sky but sadly none of it where Mr Moon was (or wasn't) to be seen. Thanks for the comments.

Hiya Andy,

Just seen you have added another 2 photos....

Week 2 - New: I like this ..... is the woman trying on the clothes in the middle of town? It looks like she is about to take the jumper off or is putting it on

I think the photo could benefit from a slight rotation as the doors/windows in the background and the granite bench look off alignment. Also perhaps a slight crop on the right to rid of the person just encroaching into the shot.

Otherwise I like the colours and DOF.

Week 4 - Open: I'm not sure about the processing on this one .... it looks a tad cold .... although I suppose that would fit with the ice-cream. I can see how this would fit with the theme of open, although the little one doesn't seem to be co-operating too well

Regards your question .... Neil (Mentalblock) has pretty much answered it. I don't know of an easier way except for linking via the spreadsheet and also subscribing to a post (which I think will automatically happen if you reply to a post ... but then that may have something to do with User CP settings ... can't recall now if I set it to automatically subscribe to answered threads).

Glad to see you are making progress with catching up and look forward to seeing your other photos soon.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Style:- on theme, a cracker  I like that you have eye contact and she is all of a shade
New:- another on theme with unusual interest in the background. I rather like the friend looking on and wish the horse and cart were placed a little further to the left but  that's what happens.
Open:- one worried looking baby but he doesn't look too comfortable himself! New to this baby feeding lark? Not sure I like the processing...but that is a taste thing :D

well done andy keep going hope you catch up some great shots there ill look forward to your others

Hi Andy,

I'm liking your thread, loads fo new takes on past weeks for me to look at.

I like this shot.
It looks better with the flickr black background, and I think the colour is better on flickr.

The rusted chains and pad locks have good detail.
At fisrt I wasn't sure about the new lock, but it's growing on me.
The position of the cobweb is almost like a glint of light off the shiney new padlock.

Hiya Andy,

I'm trying to keep up with your catch up :D

Week 5 - Hard: I like this photo .... especially the way you have captured the old with the new. I have done some graveyard shots but never seen a headstone like this .... it is a classic  It looks like it could do with a very slight straighten and perhaps a bit of a sharpen to bring out the detail in the headstone ... and probably emphasise the spider web a bit more. I love the DOF and think you done well controlling the lighting ...especially as it could have been very over exposed top right, but you seem to have been able to avoid that and even though it is brighter than the rest .... for me it works

I can't help wonder what it would look like with less of a tight crop and perhaps maybe a bit more space left and right.

Week 6 - Clutter: I like this too, as a photo, but not sure how it fits the theme  Maybe I need more wine and stack the bottles on the steps to appreciate it and maybe try a similar shot

I think you are doing a fantastic job of catching up and look forward to viewing your project. In no time you will be up to speed and for that you have my respect.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks Dawn
Hard is actually a gate so the reason for the tight crop is that it wouldn't have looked right if the rest of the gate was showing.
Clutter. I'm suprised you don't think it fits. I thought beer bottles all over the stairs was quite fitting. Perhaps just me. After all I have drunk all them

Right. Now week for 7 tee hee
Thanks for comments.

I would have never guessed the first was a gate ... that is a brill idea ... maybe need one of those installed at my place

As for the 'clutter' shot ... what are you suggesting :p .... actually I did see how it fits the theme and think you have done well there. Hope you enjoyed the brewskies in the making :D

Can't wait to see week 7 now ;)

Cheers

Dawn :)
