I bought a SanDisk Ultra ll 960gb SSD back in July last year and it has just failed.
Checking their website I can only find info on returns/exchanges and those options expired in August 2015.
What is the procedure for dealing with an item that fails within warranty?

A friend had a memory stick fail recently, Amazon told him to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer told him to contact the retailer until he told them it was amazon at which point they replaced it without further question.

I'd try Sandisk. That said a message to Amazon 1st may also be a good idea as they're normally pretty quick with responses.

Thanks, I eventually got a link for than to call me and they are sending me a reply paid label to send it back for a refund so all seems well :)

You are lucky. When my Sandisk SSD failed after several months, amazon did not want to know - I spent ages on the phone trying to convince them that my contract was with them and not the manufacturer - to no avail.
I eventually had to return it to Sandisk (somewhere in Europe) - they covered all postage costs....But it took around 3 weeks for a replacement - in which time I just purchased a Samsung.
When the replacement Sandisk eventually arrived I stuck it on Ebay.
Will never buy a Sandisk again - as I have had a Sandisk USB drive and SD Card fail too - both genuine items purchased direct from Amazon (not resellers). I have had a number of Samsung SSDs for several years and they are still going fine....

When my 8 month old external hdd failed I contacted Amazon by online chat and they replaced it without question the next day. The next day was a Sunday! Can't fault that tbh.

Doh...My memory being playing tricks on me. I remember now that my problem was that it had been just over 1 year and Amazon only cover the 1st year warranty - after which they insisted I rely on the manufacturer.
In this case the Sandisk SSD had a 2 year warranty...

No problem here once I found the correct procedure ... accepted for return, return label provided and credit returned to my card :)

Sandisk SSD warranty is now 3 years (or at least mine was/is).
