Hey, I wondered if others have noticed this...

I have a few items on my wishlist on Amazon, there were a couple of things I was planning to buy at the end of the month.

A B+W filter which was £104 when I viewed it at the beginning of the week hopped up to £114 on Thursday and now it's sitting at over £120. I vaguely remember this fluctuating in price last month, it went from £114 to £104 and back again a couple of times.

Then there are two lenses I'm watching and both went up by £100 literally overnight.

I'd found the lenses to be a great deal cheaper on Panamoz and although I was pretty wary of buying a grey import, after reading the threads on here I think I may have changed my mind.

Has anyone else noticed these increases/fluctuations on Amazon? Is there a kind of pattern to it? I just found it so strange that all three of the items increased at the same time.

I had the same thing had been mulling over a 35mm 1.8. Had been £145ish for ages then jumped to £156 one day and £169 the next. Two days later was back to £144, which is when I hit the buy button.

Thanks Rob. :)

Well, I'll keep an eye on the filter over the next couple of weeks, if it goes back down I'll go for it. Interesting to see what happens with the lenses but I reckon I'll buy from Panamoz.

I bought a tablet via Amazon last year when it was just below £150 having been up and down between there and £200 for weeks.
The lower price was only on for two days.

Thanks, set up a couple of trackers to email me when the price drops! :)

I bought a TS-E 24mm for £1357 in June, down from £1699 for about a day. Similarly I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 3G for £199 instead of £299 last year - another one day reduction.

I keep a Wishlist running, and check it daily for things I'm considering buying.

Yep, sometimes they get their pricing slightly wrong and if you're quick you can snag a bargain. I picked up a £300 point and shoot for an xmas present when it dropped down to £150 for half a day. :D

some companies pay for companies to track interest on certain pages and products.... so if for example 1 person looks, they want a cheap and quick sale, but if 500 look, they'l price hike a bit in the hope that more than 1 will make a purchase...

its a business at the end of the day and their all out to make as much cash as possible!
