A few weeks ago I ordered a camo jacket off Amazon ,when it arrived they had sent a hoody instead , so I returned item and have been refunded . But I left negative feedback to prevent others falling foul
This morning I received a e.mail asking me to remove it .. which I won’t do what’s the point of feedback if it’s not truthful and accurate
Am I doing right by taking this stance though ?

I do wonder about Amazon's compliance control.

A few years back I bought a power brick that was explicitly sold as suitable for the device but I noted upon receipt that it's output polarity was reversed.......I reported this to both the seller who told me to dispose of it as I see fit.

As for Amazon, they acknowledged and noted my report but the item was not removed from their listings!

It depends how you define feedback. I tend to want to read feedback on the specific product. I ignore those that say that the wrong product was sent because those kinds of mistakes happen. You returned the item and were refunded so what were you hoping to achieve with negative feedback?

I've not been asked to remove reviews but I have had messages to say that my negative reviews have been removed and that sort of makes me think reviews are a bit of a mockery.

Why allow some negative reviews and censor others? Seller power maybe?

It was probably an honest mistake and see no reason to leave a negative review if refund/replacement is quickly done.

I once ordered a book, something totally different arrived, proper one sent next day and no need to return it - good service IMO.

I do. The point of reviews should be to provide prospective customers with information to help them make a buying decision.

If a product is poorly made, doesn't operate as expected or quickly fails then a negative review is surely justified and if it isn't what's the point of reviews at all even if we're quickly refunded?

I do think that the quality of stuff we buy on line could quite often be better. It's as if there's no one checking these days and there probably isn't and the result is that buying online from the likes of Amazon often means buying almost blind and not knowing if the item that will turn up is a decent bit of kit or cheap made in China tat that doesn't comply with any regulations or is even of any decent quality at all.

I meant in my example of simply the wrong item sent - If it happened 2 or 3 times for the same item fair enough.

Trouble is I don’t know if it was a one off mistake or a regular occurrence , and even so it was supposed to be next day on prime and turned up 3 days later ..in fact the return/ refund was actioned quicker …
Plus why should I tell lies the whole point of feedback is good product ,quick delivery, etc … if everyone that gives negative feedback on reasonable grounds is asked to change it then what’s the point of it .
Bit like bribing the jury in a court case

I've got to agree with the consensus on this and say I probably wouldn't have left negative feedback for what was clearly a mistake on their part. The fact that they refunded you without quibble speaks volumes for the sellers customer care. Mistakes happen and this seems a genuine mistake. Regarding the 3 days wait for delivery, that was likely Amazons fault, that's happened a lot to me these last few months.

I ordered a tv signal booster recently and received a big heavy box which clanked and when I opened it it was a 6 person fondue set costing 10 times as much :D That went back and probably went in the skip as they shipped it in one of those black plastic bags and the box inside was extensively damaged. Stuff like that I don't do any sort of Amazon review but I did send the supplier feedback.

My favourite was the fool who gave a Sandisk usb stick a bad review because he forgot the password.

I agree about not giving a bad review for the wrong item, far more interested in what the actual product is like.

I have now removed it in line with the general consensus

Was it Amazon or Amazon marketplace?

The only time I have been asked to remove feedback is from Amazon marketplace.

I bought a vacuum sealer and was offered a free roll of sealing film for good feedback
Gave them some grief and they sent me it anyway saying it was a translation error

Doesn't that defeat the object of the exercise.

I think it depends - but I am pretty good at viewing feedback and deciding if that person is a muppet or not. For example, there is an amazing burger joint in town - the dirtiest burgers you can get but they are excellent. One review moaned they were messy and there was no knife and fork to eat with!!! Its not that sort of place!

If someone gets something wrong but rectifies it quickly and to your satisfaction that should be good feedback IMO.

I received an item (not from Amazon) yesterday, later in the day I was sent a Trustpilot review link for feedback for the carrier. I duly replied with 5 stars and a brief 'first class service' comment because I was very happy with the delivery. This morning I have received another email from Trustpilot, it seems the carrier wants to know more details about my reasons for the 5 star review. The email from Trustpilot even threatens that my review may not be published if I fail to respond...... as if I care........

I am so tempted to change my review to a negative one for being nagged.

People who ask me for feedback seldom get what they hope for ...

If I have had good service I am happy to give feedback ... and the same for poor, but it is my choice whether I do it or not.
