Amazon 7D

Heard of them. Nothing good

They are Hong Kong based which means warranty would be an issue for starters. And since they advertise as UK I'm guessing this is not clear on the website...

What do amazon reviews say about them?

I got my 7D from http://hdewcameras.rtrk.co.uk, I live quite close to them so able to see them directly, thou they do import from HK the warranty is with hdewcameras and they will deal with any issues. nice little setup and seems to have many happy customers. They have be running from 1997 so quite well established...just a thought if you’re looking for the 7D.

Dan.

Oh, and if you are buying from HK then digital rev have the camera cheaper and guaranteee no import VAT

Don't always trust what DigitalRev say, their sales rep had promised when I got mine that any repair can be done locally and they'll sort it out - when I came to confirm this after the sale, they said no that through their eBay branch you have to send it back to HK, now while they cover the postage "IF" they deem it a manufacturer fault its still a hell of a wait - in fact when I send the first one I got from them back it took nearly three weeks and this was when I could prove it was a hot spot issue.

I think you only get the DigitalRev service described if you buy through their website...have seen that mentioned a few times on here.

So I found out - the problem was I webchatted with their rep before purchase and he knew it was through eBay but still assured me it would be fine - I even have the transcript somewhere.

Still nevermind I don't have the camera anymore and their prices aren't that good via the website anyway.

Went in a shop yesterday to handle both the 60D and 7D, even though there isn't much between them I was swayed towards the 7D, so in the next couple of weeks I could well be parting with some cash. Anyone sees any good deals please let me know.

Thanks

Same here, I went to jessups today and asked if they pricematched HDEW. Guy at the counter said no... so I walked away empty handed;).

I thought £999 at best buys a pretty good deal! :)

Yes pricematched, they will price match any uk seller in stock then deduct another 10% (the difference between the store and the price match price see the link above) hope that helps!

Not wishing to derail the thread, but with their price match do you have to buy from them first then claim the difference back or can you sort it out with them before you buy?

I sorted it out at the time of purchase, my sales assistant was very helpful and even found me the best online deal lol!

Lushuk,

Your right it is a good deal. We have a best buy down the road so I may go in and ask them personally.

Just had a quick check, SLRHut are doing the 7D for £1019, with a 10 percent deduction that would make it £917.10.

I can feel a 7D getting closer.

I called them this morning and the lady said that they wouldn't match it from them, do to calling and a US person answering, saying that the UK office was closed. So she said it seems like a cover.

Can I ask was this the Hayes store?

Well done strobe (not sure I did myself any favours there lol:) but glad you are sorted! mrbez maybe you need to call in and put some pressure on :) good luck!

I called the 0800 number at luchtime, I spoke to a guy with English accent so I think I spoke to someone from the UK.
Yes it was from Hayes store, 1 hour drive from me... but worth it:thumbs: .

Popped into Bestbuy an hour or two ago, chap claims that there are no body's in stock in the entire UK. There are still kits available though.

@jimybell, even though they want £1075 the three year warranty looks good.

three year warranty looks good

yeah £75 for 3 years does look good if it is creditable! may well be worth the extra

I was actually considering hdew but then you can have the 7D price matched by bestbuy then just get a mack warranty from Calumet if you really want extended warranty.
