So it does! I'll keep using 0176 since I've managed to get it to stick in my (very unreliable!) memory!
 
Now, how do you get the infinity symbol using the alt key? Alt + 236 gives me ý and that seems to be what should give me the infinity symbol.
 
I'm a little late to this party but I must add that on the sock front, I never wear matching socks and haven't done so for over twenty five years when I first got fed up of trying to find pairs to put together, I started by just pulling two socks out of the draw and if they matched, fine, if they didn't, also fine. However it developed into me, when I pulled out a matching pair, putting one back and picking one that didn't match. I might also say that everyone I know knows this because I wear shorts year-round, even in the snow. I also have a blue beard that I re-dye every couple of weeks. I can't call myself eccentric, others have to do that, but I do say I have affectations -- a lot of them.

You nearly ended up with the user title, real name of "Bluebeard" but having double-checked he was not a nice person :(
 
I might also add, that my avatar shows neither shorts nor a blue beard but I seem to have got sillier over the years.

Retired postie?

A couple of golf buddies always play in shorts - one is (as above) a retired postie, the other a retired police motorcyclist. I have too much respect for others so only play in the flankini on special occasions.
