Im looking for places that do aluminium prints. I see Loxley and i know the quality will be very good from them. I also see DSCL do them but not sure if the quality will be pretty good or not. Anyone had an aluminium print from DSCL or even anywhere else other than Loxley?

I've had one from DSCL and was very pleased with it, it was a gift and so I wanted something of quality and it was.

Mark, whitewall.com specialise in aluminium, different finishes and pretty good pricing.

Good news - who did you use?

Especially glad it went well then Mark :)

Do DSCL print on the aluminium? Or is it a photo on regular paper mounted on the metal?

I'd like to try one of these.

Thanks!

Pretty certain it's directly onto the aluminium but I believe it's recommended to have mounted paper for mono prints.

What are the reasons for wanting a print on aluminium ? Is the process the same as chromoluxe?

Fashion fad - allows company's to charge exorbitant sums of money lol

Pretty much mate. What I have saw so far is that they are well suited to colourful images and are different looking from the prints I normally order( lustre). The ones I ordered were for next to an open fire wall which I'm told gets a bit dusty and sooty so these can be easily wiped down.

I have just had one done for my wife and due to the blues in the sky and sea it looks very very nice. Lovely alu prints seem better finished with rounded corners etc but they are more expensive again.

I know this thread is a little old, but just wanted to add that I recieved an Aluminium print from DSCL this morning for a client.

I couldn't decide whether to use Loxley's ( almost a third more expensive ) or DSCL. The family portrait was a black and white photo (24x16"), which I am lead to believe is better printed onto photographic paper and then mounted to the aluminium ( which is what DSCL do ). Loxley print direct onto the Ali which again I am told is not as good with B/W.

Well having used another company in the past, ( not anymore ) I am absolutely delighted with the DSCL aluminium print. It was superbly packaged and the print quality was brilliant. The aluminium itself was well cut, and not at all rough, as I have previously experienced. For the price I think DSCL are hard to beat, although I will be trying Loxley's this year to see if the extra cost produces ever better results.
