Alternative to the X-E1??

Yes
Evening all, I've been out the loop for quite a few years but I recently bought my better half an X-E1 with the 16-50 kit lens for less than £300.

Problem is it's now ignited the spark that I didn't think I had time for and I'd like/need a camera back in my life.

Are there any other good alternatives to the XE-1?

I would like to keep it around the same price as I'm seriously impressed with the XE-1's performance and have no issue in picking one up for myself but like I said I've been out the loop so I'm unsure on what's what and if there is a better performer in a mirrored model.

Just to add focus speed isn't really an issue as I like my landscapes.

Thank you for any help in advance.

Si

It's not unusual to find a used X-E1 in the Classifieds, or there's the X-E2 and X-E2S.

A step up from that would be the XT10, if you can find a used one for a good price maybe? or a used Xpro1 might be possible for a bit more. I'd save on side until I did more research tbh, look into the XT10 and an 18-55 2.8-4 lens

An xe2 would be lovely but I can't really justify the cost over the xe1 for my current needs.

I looked at the xpro1 but there were pro's and cons between that and the xe1. I'll have a look at the x10 though.

The XT10 is basically a mini XT-1, that's what I use now [T-1] and I love it. The 18-55 lens is also a step up fro the 16-50. It has really good OIS, it's better built and is a faster lens too - f/2.8 - f/4 max aperture. Pretty sweet with the OIS on top

So what is your budget?

I can't tell from your opening post whether you're basing your budget around the price of a new X-E1 when it was released, the price you paid for your wife's X-E1 (a state secret you haven't divulged) or the current price of a used X-E1. It's difficult to be helpful when you're playing your cards so close to your chest.

Honest, we won't tell your wife if that's what you're worried about..

I believe the price I paid for the the xe1 and lens is in the first paragraph :)

Anyways I paid £300 for both, like I said I have no issues in picking up one for myself I was just wondering if I'd missed a bargain/alternative as I know I'd be happy with the xe1 I'm just trying to remove the doubt that I haven't done my homework.

You also missed an [albeit slightly banged up] xpro1 + 16-50 going for £200 in classifieds.

If you stick to the £300 budget your best bet is another XE1 with the 16-50. I think you did well to get that set for the money though

As you can probably tell from my posts I'm definitely leaning that way, £300 will give me a good choice of clean body and lenses.

Sorry, I missed that. As the going rate for a used X-E2 is <£300* it's not far off your budget.

* like many others on this forum I paid £270 for a refurb X-E2 from FujiUK last year, I wouldn't pay more than £250 on a private sale or much over £280 for a dealer sale for a used body now.

No problem if I can get an xe2 for that price I'd be more than happy

I'd just get another xe1 but with the 18-55

I have an x-e2 and x-pro1 and I prefer to use the x-pro1.

You were happy with X-E1 so get another X-E1, if anything it'll be a little cheaper this time around to boot!
