Yes
The price of Photoshop has just gone up from £10.00 to £15.00 PM. So I am looking for an alternative to buy, or free. I do like colourising old photo's and use the neural filters to colourise, then touch up with the Photoshop Color Replacement Tool. Is there another photo editor that can do this, plus most of the usual Photoshop tools? Thanks

I believe Affinity Photo will do most, if not all of that. I only use it for minor tweaks to my photos; I barely use a tenth of it I reckon.

What else do you do with PS - makes all the difference to know what the alternative needs to do.

Affinity Photo without a doubt ;)

Thanks for the replies, but I don't think Affinity has AI colourise like Photoshop. You can do it manually but faces etc are better with AI on Photoshop.

Looking back I didn't do much with my own photo's, but it's nice to have the tools should I, however I do tend to use it a lot to repair old photo's, black and white, and colour. I use it to colourise old B/W photos. Then touch up the colours where the neural filters fail. This can take more work and tools than you might think to get a good looking finished colour photo. I also sometimes expand photo's to fit on You Tube. I use other tools but I think I've covered the main things. I can of course use two or three different programmes or online sites, but I prefer to do it all in one.

It sounds like you use the AI tools quite a bit. On1 photoraw does have AI tools including masking and canvas extension. This may be worth looking at as a 1 off paid option.

I'm not entirely sure what AI colourise is, but the latest version of Affinity Photo has a range of AI selection tools.

It is a one touch AI colourisation process. One click and it colourises a black and white photo. It is very good with flesh tones, trees and some other items. None are perfect, but it gives a very good start to the process.

Something new for me (not tinting B/W photos, but in my day it was done with an airbrush or bushes).

From the reviews Affinity Photo comes across as the best all round alternative to PhotoShop, but googling has found several AI colourising options.

e.g. https://SPAM/@artturi-jalli/ai-image-colorizers-6920bb435da2

But I haven't read it, or searched any further

I have downloaded Affinity trial. It will take a little getting used to but I like what I have done...ON Affinity. But when I export it the file is brighter than the one showing on Affinity. I put the downloaded file by the side of the one in the Affinity programme and there is quite a difference. I googled it and it seems an ongoing problem, anyone know how to get the photo I see in Affinity the same when downloaded? I have a Macbook.

But is there an alternative to Lightroom that allows Keywords, Cataloguing and all the other info

Depends on what you mean by "all the other info" as there are several alternatives to Lightroom, depending on the features you need.

On1 photoraw is the closest, offering DRM as well as development and editing.

I prefer Lightroom for it's familiarity and certain behaviours , but PR is a very usable alternative. I have both side-by-side and sometimes PR is the better tool.
