Yes
I am on the hunt for a new studio light, I currently use Lencarta 300W head and would have liked to add a 600W head.

Unfortunately Lencarta (crazily) can't tell me when they're due back in stock. I need to have one by 4th of December for my next event.

I have taken a brief look at Elinchrom and Bowens but believe the Elinchrom has a different fitments.

I would like to hear opinions on other GOOD QUALITY alternatives other than Bowens? (That I will be able to get with in the next few weeks)

For reference the Lencarta 600W head is £260.

The elemental spec looks pretty decent. Actually stacks up better than the Lencarta in terms of like for like spec.

Do you use radio triggers with these Vishal, and is it S-fit?

Edward, the portable one looks a little cheap :-s The mains one doesn't state the colour temp margins either.

EDIT: Thanks for the input though.

Well over the years I've owned Bowens Monolights, Bowens Geminis, 2 different sets of Elinchroms, Lencarta's Safari and Smartflash and believe me there is nothing wrong with the portable Quantuums in either build quality or use.

Good luck with your search though.

I dont actually own them.... I was toying between the idea of Lencarta or Elemental as both have very good reviews :)

I'm pretty sure they're S-fit.....but dont hold me to that! ;)

For the sake of clarity, I didn't say that I don't know when they'll be back in stock, what I said was that I wouldn't know until the next delivery arrived in a couple of days whether 600 heads were included. Unfortunately they weren't and I'm still waiting to find out when more will arrive. The simple fact of the matter is that there's nothing like them at the price and it's difficult to keep up with demand.

And yes, Elinchrom have a different fitting.

Gary, you certainly have a way with words when someone says something slightly critical. .

What you actually said was; "this delivery doesn't include the ElitePro 600 heads and I don't yet know when the next delivery will arrive - but hopefully it will be soon."

I.E. You don't know when you will have 600W heads in stock!

I would urge you not to insinuate that I'm lying.

Your post is the last nail in the coffin.

Matt,

I did say that (in the email to you) and I didn't insinuate that you were lying. What I have said to every single person who has phoned is that I wouldn't know until the next delivery arrived in a couple of days whether 600 heads were included. Obviously I can go into more detail in actual conversations than I can in emails.

I appreciate that this may not have been what you wanted to hear, but I believe in under-promising and over-performing. In other words, I don't make promises unless I'm sure that they can be kept

the elemental heads are indeed S fit, and are very good. Their new trinity line looks fantastic. Good customer service too

I have one of these, bloody brilliant, dual use (battery & mains) and includes battery, leads and reflector for £290.

That's a very interesting find, Ed..... do you get modelling lamp when on battery with these?

No unfotunately the modelling light doesn't work when on battery power.

I have both a 300w/s and a 600w/s, they are fantastic value for money, really well built, perform very well, but what I like the most is that you can vary the power settings independantly when using the batterys, also using both lights means I still have a 300w/s and a 600w/s flash whereas with the Safaris if you use 2 heads you drop down to 300w/s for both of them and any variation of power affects them both.

I paid less than £500 for both heads with 2 batteries, all leads and two reflectors including delivery, when I have some more spare money I will sell my 4 Lencarta Smartflash heads and buy another one of each of the Quantuums.

Personally I believe that for under £1000 to have 4x dual use (battery & mains) flash units (2x 300w/s and 2x 600w/s) with all leads, 4x batteries and 4x reflectors is a fantastic and very versatile system.

Ed, recycle times are long at full power - 1.5 secs on mains and 5.5 on battery :( How does it improve at lower power outputs?

Even so, probably something you could live with at the price. 600ws of portable light outdoors for under £300 is pretty damn good :)

Rather than hijack this thread any further Richard, I will do some tests this afternoon and post a review of the Quantuum models I have.

does anybody know if the quantuum are except S type fittings? and can you only run one flash per battery?

Not sure what you are asking in the first part of the question.

The Quantuum's are S-type fitting and you can only run one flash per battery.

Hope this helps.
