All you sport shooters....

Use Lightroom and you need never worry about raw conversion again.

Both SD and CF cards running in parallel for me with jpegs to both so I have a backup if a card fails, which has happened!

Sorry Phil, i didn't expect you to react, i was hoping a certain Canon shooter who just needs that final push would take the bait.

 I jest.. was a light hearted reaction.. my gear gives me the results I need! God bless Premiership lighting :)

Pah...I don't need a final push. I'm going to Elstree on Monday, hopefully my kit will be sorted in 3-5 days. I'm following the advice of the chief tog at the agency.

If I buy anything else, it will be a mkIV and I'll be doing the same...off to Elstree to be "optimised".

hmm... i have just got a MKIV, wonder what they will do to 'optimise' it.

Have you had kit at Elstree before? Its only 15 mins down the road from me, but i think the service is better at Fixation

They're calibrating my body to the lens. Much more accurate than the microadjustment apparently. They're going to service the af system as well.

The service might be better at fixation but is it £250 better as that's the difference in price!

The agency send their gear to elstree so I'm doing the same as it's just easier.

Yes, i did forget to mention that are are also a fair bit more expensive.

I had my lenses matched the bodies and it made a huge difference. I couldnt get on with the microadjustment

I shoot RAW + JPEG for sailing, but then most I my images are for customer or magazine print. The JPEGs are the smallest, most compressed version the 7D will make (still 1Mb each though!)

I've got a custom (as in set in the camera, not with picture style editor) style that I much prefer over the canon standard ones.

How much is the calibration James, if you don't mind me asking?

£60 for the Body, £90 for the lens. Or was it the other way round?! Plus P&P back, which will be a bloody fortune on a 1D and a 400/2.8.

The guys at the agency took one look at my shots from last weekend and just said "get the body and lens matched" as it's apparently a classic case of it.
