Hi, my name is Dave and I'm from Cheltenham. I know nothing about photography at all! Ha ha...
Ive got a secondhand canon 550d off ebay, a 18-55 lens and a 75-300, both canon lenses....oh and a 30 day free trial of lightroom. (about 22 days left!!)
Most my pictures will probably be nature, animal or pet based, would love to try some marco at some point. All hints, tips and advice will be gratefully received.

Hi Dave, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums. "Enjoy".

Hi Dave and welcome. Getting to know the new camera inside and out goes a long way for a newbie.(y)

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum

We've all been there so don't worry (y)

Hi Dave, welcome! I'll be watching for your work around the forum :-)

Hi Dave and welcome to TP - There's loads of information on the forum to get you going and some friendly and helpful folks too. None of us were born photographers, so get snapping and posting for crit and help :D

Look forward to seeing you around

Experiment. Read the manual for the camera. Although alot of it will make no sense you'll see explanations of each function of the camera, try a different explanation out and see if you can use it as intended. Buy a 50mm 1.8 lens (very cheap in the classifieds here which you'll see once you've reached a certain post count) Good luck.

Hi I'm Ross from Pontypridd South Wales, just getting back into photography hope to get to know all or some of you in the near future

Thank you for the friendly hello's!
I've had the camera for a few months, watched a few bits on youtube about the camera (and lightroom), I've probably taken 400-500 photos, but only got a handful that im quite pleased with!... I think still need to understand the basics a little more, I've set up a flickr account, and will have a read thru on here to work out how to post some pics up so I get some advice and start improving!
I'll keep my eye out for a 50mm 1.8 lens, thank you WelshNoob!

agree with Welshnoob, a nifty fifty is gonna pay for itself in spades for the kind of photos u want to take. Get to know your subjects with the 50mm, then a 60mm or 100mm macro come well recommended.... I have the 60mm and it is quite a lens!
