Don't know if anyone has seen these or even used them, but while queueing to pay for waffles and beer, I noticed they're selling 4-packs of rechargeable AAs for £4.99. Don't use rechargies myself but might be of use to someone... :)

I have bought them before and after a short time they did not seem to perform very well so checked the readings in a high tech charger and found they were only showing less than half the mAh they were supposed to be rated at:thumbsdown:

These seem to be a different make and technology to the usual ones ALDI and LIDL sell, I bought a set today (of AAA) for the torch they have on sale, and they are badged "ready to go" so are Eneloop style batteries.

Straight into the torch and they seem to perform quite well, have been playing around with the torch for a few hours and they are holding up well. The AAA's are rated at 850mah.

I've used the Aldi ones for about a year and find them really good. I was suprised that at my Aldi at least all sizes were the same price, AAA, AA, C and D. I have the whole range and several sets each size. I use them in torches and particularly my Nikon flashes, SB800/900. Have no reason to complain, they seem good.

I do charge all my batteries in an expensive charger though with circuitry control on every circuit. The charger refreshes and conditions the batteries each cycle. I do recommend a good charger, after messing around previously with £10 and £20 chargers from the likes of uniross etc. and batteries failing or having short lifespans the chargers by the likes of Annsman are a revelation. Typically they are around £50 but you see them rebadged cheaper and even Aldi occasionally do a good one of their own.

ps. i meant to say, in many aldi's in my area. leicestershire i notice that these rechargeable batteries seem to be disappearing and several stores just have alkaline. Maybe they are having difficulty sourcing batteries although the xmas peak in electrical sales may bring them back.

May not be true today, but 15 years ago most batteries were manufactured in Thailand.

Maybe the floods have something to do with short supply

After all your posts the other day about the subject.......I had to post this for you.

Brilliant!

I have had mixed results over the years with Lidl and Aldi rechargeables.

However the ready to use rechargeable Tronic eco ones, from Aldi's I think, are a different breed of fish:love:
