Hi to you all. For what it's worth this is No.1 of 52. Does'nt seem a lot when you say it quick. Good luck to all taking part.

Hi Allan, nice start to your 52. Spot on for the "accommodation" theme. Does it have a resident?
It's a pleasing composition, but I wonder if it would have worked better to have shown the whole bird house.
Good luck for week 2. Cheers, Patrick

Thanks for comments I did try full size version in the end settled on this one.
No residents yet a little early in the season. I have cleaned the boxes so will be having viewers soon . I have three box's in the garden [ all three used each year ] and over the past eight years seen something in like 100+ young tits fly away.

That's amazing. We get get quite a few tits of various types in our garden, but although we put out bird food we don't have any bird houses. I should put a couple out this year and see who takes up residence.

Good start. I like the way the conifer frames the house and adds colour. I would have liked to see the birdhouse symmetrical in the pic though.

Hiya Allan,

Good start to the 52 and great take on the first theme.

I like the composition and think you did right not to show the whole bird box as it gives a sense that it is hidden or snuck away somewhere cozy.

Good luck with the rest of the project.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thank you Dawn. Good luck to you as well.

Hi Allan

Good luck with your 52...

Your image seems oversharpened to compensate a slight out of focus image... I recognise this as I used to do it a bit when I first went digital confusing sharpening with focus...maybe its just my lap top monitor though or a poor small file conversion.

I think as others said a slightly wider angle may have worked better for me... or possibly even a B+W conversion

So crisp, they felt and looked brand NEW.

Do you want to buy my.....? Just joking, like the composition and your take on the theme.

Hiya Allan,

Well done on your week 2, I like the composition and the way you have framed the image.

Look forward to seeing your photo for the next theme.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thank you one and all for replies. Much appreciated.

Week 3 : STYLE.

Some people say it's got STYLE,
Some people say its just BLING,
But whatever they say,
I like my BREITLING.

Love Breitlings! Unfortunately I can't afford to buy one. Although my fiancee has promised me a watch for the wedding!

I would say it looks a little soft or OOF. The word 'Breitling' is blurred. Was this hand held and if so what shutter speed was this at?

I'd say the same for your 'New' shot too. Great composition, but the notes don't look sharp enough. What were the settings for this shot?

Hi Simon. Thanks for reply Both shots on legs with delay timer set. Think I may have a not so good 105. Will have to see if I can test it against another. But then again maybe it's my eye's.

Pfffttt, rubbish watches....nowt wrong with my £3.50 watch....:D

Anyway, I agree with others, the focus is out, and a watch like that needs VERY good focus. If you can, I'd like to see a really tight shot of the Breitling logo.

Cheers.

The Navitimer is definitely style

It does look a little soft to me, but you've done well to not get reflections in the crystal ;)

Some really creative interpretations of the themes so far and a very good eye for composition in all of them
The notes shot stands out for me - love the contrast against the black.

I have to agree with some of the comments about slight softness though - it's noticeable in the watch and the notes. To me it looks more like the focus is slightly off than anything else - were you focusing manually?

Thank you all. I will get this focus thing sorted. The D300 did have a meetihg with a road a while ago wonder if that had any effect. I have a D100 somewhere will try the 105 on that see if any different. Once again thank you for comments.
Allan.

Definitely on-theme for "style". Nice composition and lighting. Focus is a little off.

Great start to your 52 so far.

Hi Allan,

Nice take on the week and a very stylish watch indeed.

I have to agree with what has already been said about the focus, and I also noticed the > on the left which could be cloned.

I like the way you positioned the watch in the frame, works well.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks for all replies. This focus thing is really beginning to bug me.

Really like your week 2 shot - i did something similar for my week 1 but i like the contrast in yours with the black back ground and your notes look much nicer than mine.

Like your take on week 3, dont know what it is in the bottom left corner but it caught my eye when i first looked at the pic. Very nice watch though definatley fits style.

Good luck with the rest of the 52

Niki

Week 4. OPEN.

Open3.jpg

Seem to be having a lot of problems with focus of late, so appropriate that manual is OPEN at the focus page.

really like your week 2 and week 3 photos allan. I'm not sure how much compression you are putting on these before you upload as some look a bit too compressed to be / maybe could benefit for a bit of sharpening.
think the week2 one was my favourite.

Open, like that one. 'open minded' enough to read the manual, open to new teaching and open manual.

I do think the focusing's a bit off though...sorry, really sorry... :exit:

Cheers.

Many thanks to all. My focus problem seems to be down to the fact I droped the camera something must have been pushed out ofg sink. Looks like its a job for the experts.
