My Sigma SD Quattro H has taken its last photo. I stood on the deck of the MV Hamnavoe as it sailed southwards along the coast of Hoy - hoping to apture the Old Man. I had changed lens and was all ready to press the shutter when the EVF went blank, flickered then coloured lines and rectangles appeared. Nothing cured the issue, so poor phone footage was all I could get.
Sigma informs the factory in Japan no longer stores spares nor the technology to effect any repair.
Luckily I still have its smaller brother, which I hitherto used as my IR camera.
Yes they are a quirky pair, taking their own sweet time between shutter press and picture capture - but they've been good and comfortable to use.
