Air compressor that runs off car battery

Afternoon all
I'v just borrowed a mate's mini air compressor to pump up a flat tyre. His has red & black leads that connect straight onto the battery but all the ones I can see on a google search plug in to the cigarette lighter socket. Does anyone know a make or model that uses the battery terminals rather than the in-car connector?

Or you could easily just cut the lighter adaptor off the end and put crocodile clips on the wires instead.

Possibly, altho' I guess that would wipe out any warranty on it.

Why cant you just plug it into the cigarette lighter?
