After deciding to buy new cameras and a few lenses for myself and the missus, the near perfect weather and excellent light conditions did one, ever since we bought the new kit it has been dull and overcast with rain showers every day, so I would like to apologise to everyone who wanted to get out and about taking pics.............yep its my fault the sun is in hiding.........sorry.

I have tested the camera 250 timeso_O just to get to know the controls, but its not like getting out there is it.

Rant and apology over.

I remember someone how was a member of the same photographic club as me some 50 years ago. Attaining LRPS using rain as the subject for his submition

I would just like to tell you how much trouble you have caused us! The grand kids are coming over to visit, we were going on a welly walk for cancer research money raising event. I have got the scooter charged up for the missus, I have got my battery and spare for the X10 charged up. We are still going anyway, only going for an hour or two. But there again, it is called a welly walk

My father bought a new camera some 50 years ago. My friend and I used to take opportunities to get out and do some 'togging''. One day there were the three of us who used to go - ok, we were kids and Pop had the driving license and car!

It always seemed to rain after he got the new camera and we made plans for adventures. My friend once asked, "Are you bringing the 'Rainmaker' with you Mr Chuckles snr?"

Pah, you should try buying a hot air balloon and then see how long it takes to get some suitable weather! :D

Seriously though, it is Autumn, what did you expect? :)

Having said that overcast weather can be great for all sorts of subjects, especially portraits (and you can use flash of course) and then there's some great Autumn colours around at the mo.

As you say some lovely colours about, Autumn is my favourite time of the year. Got some lovely photos in our local park, trees are lovely, and a lovely carpet of golden leaves :)

Just got back from the Welly walk with the grandkids, only managed one photo and one video clip. Cold and wet so not very nice hanging around, just got back in and sun has come out

You can take photographs in other weather apart from sunny days you know? :)

We did manage to go shopping...........no not Tesco............shopping for a new laptop for the missus, anyway we got one s/h and a decent spec so she is happy now I have got rid of the dodgy OS and she is happy putting her voucher stuff..........nuff said about that, but she is happy..........BUT about Win 10 does anyone else love it like me or do you all hate it, I have had it since day 1 and love the way it knows me, some hate it saying its intrusive.

Took a photo many years ago of a friend in a graveyard, it was pouring down but the effect was pretty good. No idea what become of the photo ..

I suppose it all hangs on what you want to shoot and the mood and moment you want to capture. If you are in a familiar location and you already have any number of pictures taken on overcast dead light days it can become difficult to see any reason to take another. Go to a different location or be faced with something unfamiliar or mood inspiring and possibilities may open up but on days when there's complete cloud cover resulting in grey/white skies with very little detail and flat dead light I'd rather shoot indoors in artificial light than, for example, try and shoot a landscape or nature shot which will end up looking like a thousand shots I've taken on dull flat no sky northern days.

Since coming back form holiday in August I've hardly shot outside as free time has coincided with overcast flat light days.

Yup. That'd work and it'd suit a flat light day.
