It seems that the old way of writing software to accomplish something is now becoming redundant with AI now rapidly gaining ground almost everywhere especially in photography.

We already have AI Noise Reduction, AI Gigapixel producing incredible results when upscaling images and now Skylum has announced a new AI powered HDR program - available on pre-order.

An AI is also incorporated in their Photo Editing program called Luminar:

Also has a bite at Adobe with the phrase "Luminar - pay once and enjoy forever!

I'm definitely going to download it and try it out.

Will the day ever come when we simply load and photo into an AI program that can then process it into a masterpiece?
.

I’m sure one day Lightroom will have an AI module and it will produce a very nicely processed image based on how it sees me process my images. It might even be better than mine. But it won’t look like mine because it’s not seeing the image through the same mental filters I have, it’s not experienced the things I have, not seen the potential in the scene that I did when I composed it and pressed the shutter, doesnt understand the relationships or dynamics in the scene, doesn’t know what I want to emphasise in the scene nor know when it will look ‘just right’. So yes, it will probably process my holiday snaps well, but to create an image with emotional impact - probably not? But I may be wrong!

Whether it's a masterpiece will be for the AIs that replace us to judge.
