Yes
Air Foulup, the French national carrier, arranged the following transfer for us:
a - touch down at CdG;
b - get bus to Terminal E;
c - go through Passport Control;
d - walk to Terminal D (a considerable distance, in fact so far that if you are going from D to E, you have to catch a bus that takes 8 minutes);
e - go through Security again;
f - find gate at far end of terminal and down some stairs; and
g - get bus back to plane.

All of this to be done in 45 minutes and you end up on the plane you left on the bus. In our case, the plane was 20 minutes late arriving, my GLW wanted to go to the loo and it was the first Friday in August when all of Paris gets out of the city as fast as possible.

Results:
a - missed plane;
b - 45 minutes to register a complaint;
c - complementary meal (which I could not be complementary about) from Air Foulup;
d - free night in hotel that looks like Cell Block B&B;
e - 20E to get back to terminal in morning;
f - 70E charge for being a no show at Hertz;
g - 140E charge for hotel room not used in Beaulieu;
h - car rental goes up for smaller car from Hertz.

AF and CdG off my Xmas card list.

And the journey back was as bad. End of rant.

Disappointing really

Sounds awful - did you book this through a travel agent in the UK?

I could not agree with you more, AF is bad and CdG one of the worst airports in Europe. Unless you end your journey in CdG chances of losing your luggage are 50/50, same as in Heathrow and Madrid.

However, as a frequent traveler for work (Canon Bob only knows too well), here's my last 2 days' worth of ttraveling:

Wednesday 6: Leave Akko (Israel) by train to Ben Gurion Airport. Flight (Luftwaffe :)) supposed to leave at 16:55. Arrive at Ben Gurion at 13:20 due to the incredible amount of checking that needs to be done. Find out that LH is 4hrs late. Plane not arriving until 6pm. Eventually leave Tel Aviv at 20:30. Arrive in Frankfurt at 23:00, just in time for me to get the LAST shuttle bus to hotel I had booked.

Thursday 7: Leave Hotel, travel back to airport, flying out to Seville, Spain (no, not for leisure, for work, lugging around a 28kg tool box and 20kg suitcase + 10kg laptop carry-on). Luftwaffe again late in departure, 1 hr late. But since in Madrid I only had 1 1/2 hours to get out change terminals (from 1 to 4) and redo check-in, I miss my Iberia flight. My toolbox and suitcase were supposedly shipped directly to Seville from Frankfurt. My next flight to Seville is at 20:15 (4 hrs to change planes for luggage is usually sufficient in ANY uncivilized country airport in the world, nevermind this Madrid spectacular flop). As you guess, I arrive at Seville at 21:30 but no sight of either my toolbox or suitcase. My suitcase arrived on the next flight from Madrid, but I was told that "nobody knows where your toolbox is, sir, we have no records!"
Considering I was supposed to start work in Huelva at 8pm following day (it was now 11:30pm as I waited around for the following flight), you can imagine how happy I was.
To make a long story short :thinking:, I am still without my toolbox as I write this and the latest is that maybe it will arrive in Seville tomorrow, maybe! :shrug:

We hope you enjoyed your flight with us! :bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk:

American Express arranged it all for me. I'm on to them on Monday for compensation, about 300 euros worth.

My GLW and I decided to take carry on luggage only. That way even AF and CdG could not lose it. Seville in August and, in theory, carrying a lap top and tools with you - brave man. I was hot enough walking around Seville, thought I was a chicken in an oven. Terrible place to drive in, the signposts are pathetic. The night time smell of the Jasmine from the parks is great. Love the place, even if it is too darned hot.
