Advice please

Coming from birds mainly and using a 150-600mm, I have sold the primes I had for the versatility of a Nikon 24 -120mm f4.

Any pointers for the use of the 24-120 in taking action shots of sporty type events where I will be able to be close to the athletes? i.e. sponsored charity runs/walks etc..

Hi. I've no experience of a 24-120 but used these settings on a local parkrun (taken in the shade of trees):
Focal length:130 mm Exposure:1/1000 at f/4 ISO speed:ISO 2000

No specific pointers as I used mine mainly in aperture priority. However I did used to love my "street sweeper" 24-120. Cracking focal length for when out and about.
