Hi all - I'm just looking for a bit of advice for my up and coming first wedding this weekend. I have only done outdoor portraiture once which was on a very sunny day. I found many of my images were pretty burnt out due to the sun. I tried a few different settings and made sure the sun was not in front of me with very mixed results.
If this weekend is bright and sunny again, I'm a little nervous about this happening again. :help:
Are there any steadfast rules for bright sunny days when photographing people? I always seem to find slightly dull days easier.

find open shade, use a reflector, use fill flash

I personally like the sun, shoot reasonably tight expose for the darker tones in the face and let the highlights blow. Thats a personal style thing though I'm pretty sure its bad practice

Fill flash with high speed sync enabled.

David, when you talk about exposing for the darker tones, I'm guessing you are using (fill) flash on these shots?
