Hi. Can anyone steer me in the right direction. I want to get my husband (both camera novices) a camera body, possibly second hand, with a decent zoom lens. The thing is I want it to be mounted on a tripod but the image it is picking up to be displayed on his computer so he can 'take the photo' from his pc. He wants to have it trained on the bird table while he works and then take a shot whenever he sees something good without moving from his desk (and disturbing the bird).. I am imagining this is the sort of set up a drone camera would have. Any ideas? Am hoping not to spend more than £200. Grateful for any advice.

Hi Kathryn, your best bet might be something like a used Panasonic FZ1000, but price is more likely £250-£300 on ebay, and wifi control *should* be through a phone app (you should check & confirm that's the case before buying). An alternative would be to buy an older Canon or Nikon DSLR & telephoto zoom lens and use it tethered with a cable, but that will also require software to enable live viewing and image capture, and may cost a significant portion of your budget (On1 Photoraw offers tethered shooting).

£200 budget ,well that’s the tripod bought anyway . Decent lens , camera gonna cost a lot more than you think even used unless you want bad quality images , I/we see these posts regularly ,it might seem harsh but your trying to crack a nut with a feather . Sorry but you need a lot of reading and a major re.think

Thanks for your advice. Appreciate your info ancient Mariner. I like the idea of the phone app system. Will check ebay.
