Hi all,

Enjoying the snow? :D

I was just wondering how the rest of you manage to come out with an decent photo whilst the snow is falling. Is there a way that I can avoid having big blurry white blobs coming up on my pictures? I've tried facing away from the direction in which the snow is coming, but it doesn't really change much.

Thank you in advance. :)

And manualy focus on you aren't focussing on snowflakes (unless that is what you are trying to do, but again I'd use manual focus to be on the safe side)

Make sure to get your white balance right, blue coloured snow doesn't look appealing.

What should you set the white balance to? (i have a Canon EOS 40D)

Depending on the light condition, if you have an Expo Disc, not necessarily that specific one ... there are cheaper brands .. then you can use it to set the exact temperature. Otherwise, just set it up manually, by testing whichever gives the best "true" reproduction.

Personally, I got one of the cheaper ones off ebay (was under £5) and does the job perfectly. Never had to tweak WB ever since.

True, it can be adjusted in post processing .. but it's a far sight more rewarding getting it right first-hand and right off the camera.

This is the cheaper one I got, does the job 100% of the time and always gets the WB spot on.
