Yes
I have a Canon 400D and a 430ex flash, which I fire off camera via rf-602's - and I'd like to step up to a two flash setup if I can.

What is the most efficient way of making such a leap? I'm not sure what my options are tbh, hence asking on here.. :help:

I'd want to fire both flash's remotely too, I don't think a cord is flexible enough. The subject will be a bit of portrait, and automotive shots. At the moment I'm doing multiple exposures with the flash and merging them in PS, which works, but perhaps not ideal.

Here's one result of that method if it helps at all..

Any advise welcome tbh. If the body is adding difficulties here feel free to say so

Just get another RF-602 receiver.

I have 2 at the moment, for when I want to fire the flash and shutter at the same time.

So with another flash, such as a Yongnuo YN-565EX I could then use the RF triggers I have to fire both flashes at once? Sounds good to me

I did wonder about a Canon 580ex flash, then using it to trigger the 430 I already have..

So you want to fire two flashes remotely, and also trigger the camera remotely?

Then receivers for each gun, and a separate radio remote to fire the camera. You can do that with RF-602, with a short cord connection to the camera's remote socket (Yongnuo supplies these) though you'd need both another transmitter and receiver, and set them to a different channel.

If I'm understanding this right, all I need is another receiver and a flash - like you said at first

It'd go:

hand held trigger to receiver plugged into the camera with the little cord (to fire the shutter)
trigger mounted in the hot shoe to 2 receivers, one mounted on each flash

So I just need to decide on a new flash, and get one more receiver :)

Yongnuo's flashes have optical triggers, so may not need a radio trigger, except maybe outside in a very sunny day.

I have a 560 II and it just works fine.

Not quite. You need two transmitters, on different channels, and three receivers.

First transmitter you hold in you hand, and that fires the camera as you've described. Then another transmitter in the hot-shoe, on another channel, is triggered by the camera and fires the two remote flashes, also on that same different channel.

If you do it all with one transmitter on one channel, the camera and flashes will all fire simultaneously, ahead of the shutter opening.

Yeah that's what I meant anyway

I already have 2 transmitters, 2 receivers and the little cord. So one more receiver and I'm there, and a new flash of course.

Thanks for the help :)
