hi i need some advice: i have got a canon 40d and i am doing my first wedding soon, i would like some advice on which lens to buy for a all round good result?

you dont list what equipment you already have or a budget, so a bit difficult to recomend.

from what i have seen, you are looking at a 24-70 f2.8/24-105f4L. a 24-70 is also available from sigma.

people also recomend a 70-200 f2.8(various manufacturers offer this lens) for candids and such like

if this is a proper paid job. you would do well to get a 2nd body as backup and a couple of flashguns so that you have backups if one camera/flash fails on you.

also consider a 85mm and 50mm prime. these are excellent in low light and could save the day indoors.

for more accurate info, need more information though.

how confident are you in your camera usage? you would do well with f2.8 lenses as it will help blur the background and in low light wihtout flash

would that be sutable to use without flash inside ? do u no

I have just bought the Sigma 24-70 F2.8 for my 40D and can highly recommend that.

Obviously posted same time as above post......

Interesting to see that the usual tirades against "my first wedding" posts can be suspended under certain circumstances. :whistling:

The short answer to the original question is that there is no one answer. It all depends on what style of shooting you'd like to do. If it's a "must get all the shots" deal, then you are going to be woefully under equipped by the sounds of it. If it's some shots for family or friends, then go with what you have and get what you get. :):)

thanks for your advice: glad i have blown out all expectations of the first time triades i cant wait i just want to do the best job i can, initially this shoot is for my cousin as a favour but am hoping some payed work will come from it

sorry not ignoring your question papa u just do not know the anwser ps i looked at the lens u have for sale it looks stunning i may concider it.

Didn't seem worth mentioning to be fair. and would probably scare off the OP. if people are going to do it, there isnt anything you can say/do to put them off really.

goldie, i hope you have searched the forums/net and pulled together as much information about it as possible. and that you have a flashgun?

I cant be arsed anymore with people who want to do weddings and dont have a clue. It's a waist of my time to comment.
