I'm planning studio shoot doing some vintage pinup style images (Elvgren style).

My question is how to achieve a coloured background which also extends to the foreground (i.e. where the model is standing/kneeling).

The studio has a seamless white vinyl and grey paper backgrounds.

Gels?

Thanks, Patrick

No, using gels would make it pretty well impossible not to get the gelled light on the subject too. You need to use coloured backgrounds if you want to do it in camera.

Hi Garry, thank you. I sort of guessed that might be the case.
Do you know if doing it PP would be possible without looking awful?

Using PP is certainly possible, but personally I would rather spend the money on the right background than spend the time on a computer. Another option would be to get someone like Clipping Paths Asia to do it for you, they do a very good job for very little money
