Hello all,

Im not sure if im posting in the right place, just after a little advice.
I recently aquired some old camera gear, handed down from family who wanted rid of it.

I have no use, and said i would get rid of it and plan on getting them a few beers in with the money.
My question is - Im not sure if the gear i have is any good. Is it worth trying to get rid of it as a job lot sale, or to sell individually?

I have...
Jessop 150M Flash
Miranda 500-CD Flash
Chinon auto S-280 Flash
Miranda 28-200mm F3.8 Lens (canon fit)
Vivitar 70-150mm F3.8 Lens (chinon fit)
Optomax 300mm F5.6 (screw fit) with collar

Everything is in great condition, apart from the optomax, which needs a serious clean up.

Any help much appreciated.
Marty.

I initial thoughts as no time search out the fine details

All those flashes may have too high a trigger voltage for use, even were possible to , for direct connection to a modern camera body. Just possibly usable in an OCF rig assuming you can get a remote trigger that can 'handle' it/them?

The canon fit one is likely old film body FD fit and the Optomax sounds like an old M42 screw fit.

So possible collector or old gear fan/users only with unless any items are actually rare(?) collectables the lot is worth very little :(

Thanks for that, I looked at similar items for sale, and was aware that they are not valuable items.
They are not getting used now or going to get used any time in the near future, so better off in somebody elses hands really.

I think it is possibly going to be better to get rid individually, due to the different lens mounts.

There is a guy on our local market who tries to sell this sort of lower market stuff. He has so much I am not sure he ever sells any. Regrettably I don't see any brands there that would set him alight to buy. Nevertheless, why not stick it in the classifieds and see if there are any takers?

Good shout shreds, thanks for that.
I'm going through taking pictures right now. Will give it a go.

The Optomax is very usable, if you can master manual focus and will fit almost any make of camera with a converter fitted these are readily available. I speak from experience I have a Paragon 400mm lens (same type of lens) I use on both my Nikon D700 and D5100..I think I paid about £30 for it, in super condition with a leather case, about 6 or 7 yrs ago.

The Vivitar 70-150mm F3.8 Lens (chinon fit),will be an Pentax K mount,so can be used on any Pentax K mount camera :)

There is also a guy in Newent, Gloucetsshire who has a website and he seems to have a lot of older stock. Mostly he must deal in the Internet as I rarely find him open when passing by. Sorry, can't remember name but a quick search should do it.
