advice on buying my first flash gun

Hi all

the time has come for me to delve into a flashgun, nearly all my photography revolves around downhill and freeride mountain bike shots as im also a rider and combine both hobbies. i have a D200 and currently have been using no flash but last few days started with the onboard flash which has been an improvement so would like to buy a flashgun to give me more options.

for now it needs to be one of the cheapy Chinese versions such as the YN-460 or 560, any advantage in buying the latest model as a first time user or any other recommendations ..

Am i correct in thinking with a flashgun i can have faster shutter speeds as currently the onboard flash maxes out at 1/250 ?

I have a D200 and went for the YN560 ii. It works really well, although all settings are manual and there isn't any iTTL functionality with it, plus you can use it off camera as long as it can see the pop-up flash go off. I got mine from Amazon for £48.
