I have been asked to produce something similar to the images below. It looks pretty tricky! They will be in a warehouse with poor natural light but I will be able to bring in a fair selection of lights and modifiers... Can anyone with experience of products like this offer any suggestions as to how to light them to give a similar result? :help:

Besides the background, the height you will need your lighting... your next biggest challenge is getting the products spotlessly clean in a warehouse environment, and controlling what is visible in the reflections in the warehouse environment. Ideally, they should cart the stuff to a properly equipped (large) studio

Thanks Richard... yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I think I need to find out more about the location and whether it's feasible. Really appreciate your reply.

I don't see any problems with this, other than the fact that the surfaces are reflective - but lighting them is just like playing snooker, you have to work out the angles that will both produce the right effect and avoid unwanted light reflecting where you don't want it to be (in the lens). It's that simple.

In your examples, the lighting is pretty bland, created by large softboxes, and both the reflections and the shadows tell you where they were placed.

There is no reason why cleanliness should be a problem, and unwanted reflections from the surroundings are, again, easily controlled by controlling the angles.
