hi can some one give me some advice on an old minolta auto 200x flash please. i want to put it on my sony a200, ive found an adaptor on ebay that claims it will work it off the above camera. what i need to know if that its true and also is there any possibilty that it may damage the camera. any help or advice would be much appreciated, thanks jase

ive got an idea that its going to be too much difference in power/voltage am i right or shall i just get shot of it and buy a correct flashgun?
if anyone wants it you can have it for postage costs as its surplus, works fine so just pm with details and its yours!

Hold a multimeter across the two pins on the flash base as it charges and then fire it. If it bounces to higher than about 10v then forget it (both my film ones hit 250v). You can probably buy a digital era flash for the cost of the adapter anyway.

thanks cowasaki, i'll just buy a new/secondhand flash thats compatible. adaptor was only 8 quid, just thought id try it, like i said if any one has a use for it and will pay the postage there more than welcome to it.

Stick it in the cupboard. If you buy another flash and then decide to play with multiple flashes then you can fire this flash using a remote trigger. It would do for lighting the background or something like that.

I have just posted a tutorial all about this very issue after seeing it come up a few times.
